Miami life is filled with fun activities and interesting people but during WMC, or winter music conference, things go to a whole new level.
Every day and night regardless of whether its the middle of the week or the middle of day there is something fun going on and hundreds of people from all over the world come to visit.
Some of the people that live in Miami actually decide to travel elsewhere during this time as it can get very hectic in the city and strange things can happen. Nevertheless, I decided to stay in Miami for the madness and had a great time doing so.
During this WMC week I did my usual foodie adventures and visited some of my favorite restaurants, as well as some I had not yet been to, and of course I did some partying as all of the best DJs in the world were in town.
Early in week I ate at the new Cavalli restaurant in Miami Beach, the restaurant is actually pretty small but it has interesting decor with an animal print theme. As for the food, the presentation was interesting but the food was average. My favorite part was the Tiramisu dessert which when served seemed to be no where in sight but it was actually hidden by its presentation.
I then when to Prime 112 steak house and ordered the usual, yummy Foie Gras as an appetizer, filet mignon with a side of truffle mac and cheese as the main course and then fried oreos for dessert.
As you probably already know, I’m a huge foodie and love trying new restaurants but on occasion I also enjoy the dinner party ambiance where I go more for the vibe than the food. I went to Baoli for its Wednesday dinner party and had a great time enjoying some bites with fun music and friends. We then also attended the best Thursday dinner party in town at Villa Azur. I love going to Villa Azur’s Thursday’s dinner party as it is always so much fun to dine outdoors while enjoying some music, food, fun atmosphere and then occasionally taking a walk in the art gallery and enjoying some cool art while sipping on some wine.
Last but not least I dinned at Il Sole at the Villa by Barton G, Versace’s old house. This iconic mansion is filled with history as it was the former residence of the acclaimed fashion designer Gianni Versace until he was actually shot on his doorstep. The mansion now has a restaurant that was closed for about a year and it just re-opened about 2 weeks ago, so I decided to visit it and see what it was all about. The restaurant offers an Italian menu with a Mediterranean influence and has great presentation. However, my friends and I found the food to be pretty average and instead realized that the highlight was the house. The manager offered us a private tour of the Versace mansion and we got to enjoy its gorgeous walls of pebble mosaics, the frescoed ceilings, the 24 karat gold lined pool and the overall impeccable detail of the house. The house was built in 1950 and still has most of its original decor.
In terms of partying, the highlight of the week was Tiesto at LIV nightclub in the Fontainebleau. Tiesto performed a fun set and had Icona pop as a surprise guest! During WMC I also interviewed Bassjackers for the Daily Beat.
For most of the week I ended up staying at the Setai hotel on Miami Beach and had a great time. The ocean view was beautiful and you could actually see most of the pool parties from the balcony and even hear the music as if you were in the party, it was crazy.
Anyway I hope you had a great week and remember to live life to the fullest, life is too short to be anything but happy!
Lots of love,
